Naughty.... naughty...

Once again I found myself shopping around on Etsy and I found the funniest wreath ever. Some may think it's a bit strange, but I happen to love this as it really depicts life in our house. The idea behind this wreath is that no one can be good all of the time and at Christmas, be naughtier than usual. If you can't tell.... the dog figurine is actually lifting his leg on the Christmas tree. Where in the world did the artist find this? 


So fitting as I reflect on this past year and all of the naughty little things our babies have done. For example, I came home from dropping my son off at preschool to find 7 gum balls sprawled on the dining room floor. Our lovely little critters had jumped on a bench and onto our table knocking cupcakes off the stand onto the ground and ate every last one of them leaving only the wrapper and gum balls which were on top. Apparently Frenchies don't care much for gum balls. Thank goodness the cupcakes weren't chocolate. LESSON LEARNED! Although Frenchies aren't known for jumping, they can do pretty much anything for food. 


Just so you know something like that would never happen at Nina's house. She just happens to be the perfect Frenchie mom. She doesn't spend her time messing around on Etsy or blog about it for that matter. I on the other hand have a home of what I like to refer as organized chaos. Dont' dare touch the stacks on my desk as I know exactly where things are!

Pumpkin and Your Pooch

Did you know that pumpkin is good for dogs? It is packed with nutrition!! It contains iron and potassium which is good for blood pressure and healthy blood. It has large amounts of Vitamin A which helps improve vision and improve resistance to infections. Pumpkin also has fiber so if  your dog is constipated it may help give them some relief. It is also said that it can help with diarrhea as it absorbs water (we have never had to use it for such.... knock on wood!!).

Our dogs love cooked pumpkin! Just make sure that you are feeding them just plain pumpkin and NOT the pie mix because the pie mix contains sugar and other ingredients not in our dogs diet.

We freeze pumpkin in an ice cube tray which create a perfect portion for them to snack on. For our larger Frenchies we use a bit less than a tablespoon per cube. Smaller dogs would use 1 to 2 teaspoons. Remember only to feed it in moderation as large quantities of Vita A can be toxic to dogs!

Born to Cuddle

There is one sure way to get your child to sleep in their own bed... throw a Frenchie in it! After a long day of playing dolls and dress up it was time for the girls to go nighty night and I couldn't help but take a few shots as it had to be one of the cutest moments ever. There is no doubt about it, some Frenchies were  born to cuddle.

New Babies

The latest additions to our little Frenchie world are simply adorable. They love to play hard and nap hard! If they aren't napping they are on the move, so photographing them is a huge task. Here are a few of my favorites. 

Potty Training

Oh yes, the one thing that makes every parent and dog owner cringe... POTTY TRAINING! Ugh... Wouldn't it be nice if you could just snap your fingers and it would be over?

Well, sorry to say it's just not that simple with Frenchies as they can be stubborn, bullheaded little guys. Potty training a Frenchie can be a very challenging. But have NO fear as we are here to help make things a little bit easier. Wait? Did I day easy!? Okay, not so easy but I think I have some tips that may help with the daunting task. Are you scared yet? Don't be ;-)

1. Crate train your dog. While you are potty training, if you are not able to directly supervise your Frenchie they should be in the crate. In general dogs do not like to relive themselves where they sleep, so make sure that the crate has just enough space for them to lie down. 

2. Routine is very important. As soon as you wake up in the morning take your Frenchie directly outside to an area in your yard you would like to use as the "potty". I recommend using a leash so they know exactly where you want them to go because Frenchies are easily distracted and will often times want to play. 

4. After each meal or drinking water take your Frenchie out to go potty. Frenchies do have a small bladder so try letting them out every two hours. 

3. Give your dog a positive reward as soon as they go potty. We use verbal rewards, but feel free to use a treat or toy.  If they don't go, put them in the crate and try again in 5 to 10 minutes until they go. 

Your Frenchie may test your patience, but stay consistent and enforce the rules that you set for your dog and you will have a happy family!!!

Frenchies....They'll steal your heart!

We're back! After taking a little break we are now back and in full force. They kids are off to school  and it's time to get back to work. I wanted to share some of my favorite shots of the kids and Lola when she was a puppy. After a long morning of hard play she used to love to sleep in the baby's lap and take naps with her. It happens to be one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. Just melts my heart every time. The kids really adore her and she has adored them right back ever since she was a puppy.

First Meal

My boys are a month old. So we are going to start feeding them some food. I feed all my dogs a raw diet. I love the OC Raw dog food. My dogs do very well on it. But I know not all people feed raw so I started my pups on Thrive from Honest Kitchen. It still has the benefits of raw feeding. But might be a little easier for people.

My Boys are 17 Days old!

   Willie is so cute puppy. I can already tell that he has a great personality . His eyes have been open for about six days. He can hear us now. Also when you hold him up to you he will  lick you. It is amazing that puppys this small already act like dogs.

This is Teddy. He is the first one that is trying to walk. He can get up on all fours and take about 3 steps before falling. This puppy make the funniest noise. The kids and I think that he sounds like a baby dinosaur.

Easy Going Willie 5 Days Old

  The kids always gravitate to Willie. He still is the biggest. His stomach is so fat it looks like he is going to explode. Look at that face. So cute!

Teddy 5 days old

  This is my smallest pup. But not for long! He eats the most right now. I heard that sometimes the runts in the litter sometimes become the biggest. I would think that is true by how much this little guy hogs all the food. His color looks like a squirrel on his back. But his head is turning red. Cant wait to see what his coat is like. I have a feeling this one is going to be spunky.
